DOPI, ROPI and DEPO

Defense after opponents bid over 4NT (ace-asking).

DOPI

If your opponents bid a suit over 4NT that is lower ranking than your suit.

When a 0314 Roman Keycard Blackwood bid of 4NT is overcalled.

When a 1430 Roman Keycard Blackwood bid of 4NT is overcalled.

ROPI

Is used when your opponents double 4NT.

1S 3C 4NT Dbl

Right-hand opponent doubles 4NT instead of bidding 5C. Some pairs play this way to tell their partners they want to sacrifice, or that they want partner to lead his suit (clubs) without actually bidding it --usually because they're vulnerable and they're scared of being doubled.

Other partnerships might play double as honor showing in partners suit(A or K) giving the leader the option of under leading his suit with a suit preference card, or bidding on if they choose.

Other partnerships might play double asking for the lead of the higher or lower of unbid suits. It pays to find out.

If your opponents double 4NT.

When a 0314 Roman Keycard Blackwood bid of 4NT is doubled.

When a 1430 Roman Keycard Blackwood bid of 4NT is doubled. (RIPO)

DEPO

What if their suit is higher than yours? Since their suit is higher-ranking, DEPO is better.
