In 2001, the legal name for unit 390 became the Calgary Duplicate Bridge Association (CDBA), when the Board of Directors registered as a Society. ACBL bridge members living in Calgary and surrounding area, automatically became members of the CDBA. Since then, our bank accounts have been registered in that name and all business with the public has been conducted in that name. Most members were unaware of the legal name and therefore have known the organization by its common name, "ACBL Unit 390".

In 2005, the members approved changes to the bylaws, but these changes were not submitted to Alberta Registries. In May 2009, Alberta Registries registered a name change to the Calgary Bridge Society together with a new set of objects and bylaws. It has since been evident that the CDBA submitted these changes without prior member approval. Nevertheless, the changes are registered.

Therefore, it is the decision of this webmaster that the title of this site will be the website domain name of ACBL Unit 390. If and when the Unit 390 members approve a new set of bylaws, this name may be subject to change.
